The Advanced Encryption Standard: 20 years later

Abstract

The 20th anniversary of the standardization of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), the workhorse of cryptographic algorithms, takes place on 26 November 2021. In this column, we recount the history of the AES and its predecessor, the Data Encryption Standard.
